True Inspiration

Our magazine delights in bringing you stories of inspiration, motivation and hope to help improve your life and give you peace and balance.  That's why we've hitched our star to a young man whose trying to inspire others, raise awareness of overcoming impossible odds, and giving hope along his journey.  You can meet long distance swimmer Ben Lecomte at TheLongestSwim.com and follow him on Facebook.  Ben has swam the Atlantic Ocean with no flotation device and on April 12th he will tackle the Pacific.

Last month at a benefit concert in Arlington, TX for The Longest Swim we had the opportunity to hear the sweet vocals of singer Kevin Levar.  He truly sang from the heart... and from the heart is what it's all about.  It's what has inspired Ben, it's what Kevin brought to the concert, and it's what we at Equanimity want you to take from our magazine.

We are very excited about our upcoming Spring Edition.  It will be coming your way very soon.  PLUS we have a new look for our digital edition... this spring you will find video inserts to go along with many of our inspiring stories like Ben's.

Yes, when Ben finishes his journey he will have broken the world record in long distance swimming BUT that is not why we are following Ben, we are following Ben because of his mission - he's a symbol of motivation, inspiration and hope when facing struggles in our lives.  So... swim Ben...swim.

And we hope through our stories you may find your heart and your mission.

May you find...

Teaming with Amoize

As many of you know, the publisher of Equanimity, Lumbie Mlambo hails from Africa - her interest and passion for that continent is great; thus it is no surprise that she is an avid supporter of the new magazine highlighting African culture and lifestyle: Amoize.  According to their statement, AMOIZE seeks to educate a worldwide audience about both the Traditional Heritage and contemporary lifestyle in the African countries."  AND it's no surprise that Equanimity is teaming with Amoize to offer Equanimity advertisers more bang for their buck.  Right now if you advertise in Equanimity you get an ad in Amoize as well.  That means 300,000 readers through subscription and sales at Barnes & Noble, BooksAMillion, specialty stores, gift shops, libraries, universities, VIP Lounges, food stores, cultural elite events, foreign markets, African stores, independent book stores and other bookstores nationwide. There's targeted segment drops and distribution to luxury hotels and important cultural, community and philanthropic events. To top it off, Amoze's in-flight magazine with Continental airlines brings an additional 200,000 readers in the United States and abroad.  Both magazines are online 24/7. WOW!

So dear readers... if you want to advertise or you know of someone or a company that SHOULD advertise with us ... let them know... and let us know ... we're going places... won't you come along?

Look for Equanimity's spring edition to highlight an inspirational trip across the Pacific Ocean beginning around April by swimmer Ben Lecomte.  He plans to swim from April to October, eight hours a day, seven-days a week.  Why?  It's Ben's way of raising funds and awareness to help wipe out cancer.

What's your cause?  What are your aspirations?  Where are you going?  Come along with us as we explore the lives of people making a difference in their own way... Won't you come along?  Be uplifted through others and with others as we help make a difference in our world through capturing the essence of spirit throughout mankind.

Equanimity Looks Ahead to 2012

As Equanimity looks ahead to 2012 we had the opportunity to see how others’ New Year is already shaping up.  Journalist Soledad O’Brien told Equanimity publisher Lumbie Mlambo that she is excited to be back!  “Back” as in her new morning job at CNN.  The former CNN journalist will rejoin the news operation in 2012 when she will co-host a "conversational ensemble program" from 7a.m. to 9 a.m. ET.  O’Brien was the keynote speaker at the DFW Association of Black Journalists Gala earlier this month when Equanimity had the opportunity to speak to the journalist about her past and her hopes for the future.  Find out what O’Brien had to say in our upcoming issue.

Speaking of issues, we are looking for story contributions for the upcoming year… topics will range from overcoming challenges to global happiness.  If you have an idea… email us your pitch.  We will also be looking at education and empowerment and of course the topic we’ve been promoting lately … going the distance.  How do you go the distance and maintain?  As you have read here and on our website, we’ve been involved with swimmer Ben Lecomte’s The Longest Swim.  Equanimity is a big fan of ways to make a difference and if Ben can make a difference by his endurance swim across the ocean we think you can too!  Cancer needs to be eradicated and Ben is helping toward that goal.  You can connect with Ben and his great adventure… and share your story too at his website thelongestswim.com plus read more about him in our spring 2012 edition.

As we end this year we want to thank our readers for your support.  We are growing!  And, with our growth we are looking for a “face” of Equanimity.  Could you be that person?  Do you have a peace that brings you equanimity and balance?  If so, we want to hear from you!  If you are chosen as our “face” you will take a place in our magazine in each edition, interact with media, attend speaking engagements, appear in Equanimity advertisements and wear Equanimity clothing and jewelry.  Yep, it’s a glamorous job but somebody’s got to do it!  Why not you?

Equanimity wants to bring out the best in all of us in 2012!  We’ll be highlighting new beginnings as Soledad O’Brien kicks off the New Year returning to CNN.

We’ll be focusing on the challenges that all of us should take to make a difference.  And we’ll be spotlighting those who are committed but often not praised like our teachers and educators. We invite you to continue the journey with us as we head to 2012… soon you’ll find us on major newsstands internationally.  Equanimity is everywhere!
